2005 Jeep Liberty questions and answers
Q: I just bought a 2005 Jeep Liberty Renage and I suspect that my power steering pump is going bad. How can I tel?
In the mornings when it is cold, my car makes a grinding sound. Then when I drive and turn curves, it really gets loud. I have found puddles underneath and I followed it up to the power steering fluid. I will make my first payment this week and I fill like I got ripped off.
A: Sounds like green ooze is escaping your engine and flooding your Jeep. If you don't get the green ooze leak fiixed it can fill up your whole front seat and destroy everything.
Q: 2005 Jeep Liberty from manual to automatic?
i am wanting to convert my manual liberty to a automatic, im not too sure what needs to be done, what part i need, or how much it will be. would anyone be able to help me out. (i dont mean to sound rude but if the only answer you are going to provide is: a lot of money/ not worth it. please dont respond.) i am really wanting to know this information.
A: Once you put in the automatic, you will need to also install a transmission control module (TCM), provided the vehicle has wiring for it. Also, you will need to plug in various sensors that may or may not exist in some form in your current harness. Modern automatic transmissions and computer monitored and controlled devices and are best left to the factory to install. You will also need to install a new shifter. Also, you will need to remove your cluth assembly and you'll probably want to get alarger and possibly relocated, brake pedal since the one in a manual is so skinny compared to the wide pedal in an auto. Converting from automatic to manual is much easier. Unless you have a very firm grasp of how a vehicle works and a lot of mechanical knowledge, you should sell it and look for an auto. You are right, its not worth it and would cost A LOT of money.
Q: i just bought a Pioneer DEH 2000MP for my 2005 Jeep Liberty?
i did not want to spend $100 on Geek Squad (not that i could) and the wiring does not match up to the back of my new stereo system. could someone please help me do this or give me a web address that would tell me how to install it. thanks alot.
A: You need to purchase a wire harness adapter. This will plug into the factory harness on the Jeep, then allow you to connect the radio wires to the harness without having to cut the wires in the Jeep.
Q: 2005 Jeep Liberty tire Pressure gauge?
Hello, I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade. The "low tire pressure" gauge is flashing for about 10 seconds randomly then goes off. I've had it light up before, but go away immediately after putting air in the tires. I checked the pressure in all four yesterday and its right on. What could this mean? (Oh, when i purchased the Liberty, there was no owners manual)
A: Hello. Eric is usually good, but he is wrong about your Jeep. The system has a transmitter in each tire and the spare. The receiver is your wireless control module (WCM) at the steering column. You may have low pressure in the spare tire or a tire sensor going bad. Check the spare before you take it to the dealer to check the sensors. The sensors cost about $50 each plus labor.
Q: 2005 Jeep Liberty passenger air bag light stays on?
airbag light stays on all of the time only if someone is sitting over there it goes out is it serious trouble?
A: Here's a site that will explain everything you need to know about airbag lights and resetting the system. On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for @6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident. Most systems can only be diagnosed using a scanner designed for the airbag system, however some use flash codes to indicate the problem. The scanners at Auto Zone or the ones that sell for @ $50 will not access the airbag system, only the engine systems (check engine light). This website gives you the procedure for diagnosing and resetting some systems without a scanner. Some vehicle manufacturers accommodate that (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) and some require a scan tool. http://www.airbagsolutions.com/ Check out these websites also for more info on airbag systems and the light. http://blog.airbagsolutions.com/archive/2007/11/18/why-is-my-airbag-light-on.what-should-i-do.aspx http://www.airbagsolutions.com/resources.aspx http://blog.airbagsolutions.com/ Check out this site for information on researching your own vehicle for factory recalls!!! http://www.airbagsolutions.com/nhtsa.aspx

Q: Does anyone know how to disable the automatic door locks on a 2005 Jeep Liberty?
A: I have a chevy truck and I can change the way the door locks work through the driver control display. If you have any control over your door locks It would be described in the owners manual.
Q: E85 gas on a Jeep Liberty. (2005, used)?
We, my wife and I, bought a 2005 Jeep Liberty. Is it possible to just start using E85 gas or do we need to modify something?
A: your vehicle will suffer damage if you run e85. it is not worth the hassle of changing the necessary parts, nor do I believe they make changeover kits yet?! the only jeeps designed to run ethanol are 07 and 08 models of commander and cherokee, wow look at jeep guy plagarizing my post. Thats awesome

A: some have a antitheft key system you will need a scaner to check . But first try a diffrent key some time a bad key will stop car from starting
Q: 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD Diesel or a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta TDI diesel? Both in same price range.?
Which one would be a better vehicle , which one would have higher operating coasts and which one is more reliable? Both will be used in Canada with winters hitting -50C or -58F.
A: The VW TDI is way better. I am not a big VW fan overall, but they do make the best diesel engines on the planet. You will average at at least upper 30's mpg. The Liberty Diesel is next to worthless because it gets about 1-2 mpg better than the gasoline engine Liberty at a huge premium in cost. You will average about 23-25 mpg.
Q: Opinion on 2005 Jeep Liberty?
Looking at a 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 Trail Rated. It has 110,000 km or 67,108 m. Just looking for reviews from past to present Jeep Liberty owners, pros and cons of owning one from engine to comfort. Thanks!
A: I drove one for a while, horrible gas mileage, very poor quality of fit and finish throughout. I liked the size, its not a huge vehicle, easy to park and maneuver. There are better vehicles in this segment.
Q: 2005 JEEP LIBERTY CRD MOD?
I have a 2005 JEEP LIBERTY CRD and am looking to increase the horsepower/torque number, does anyone have any suggestions?
A: a cat back exhaust and chip are your only mods. Any other form of upgrade will cut down your reliability. Switch your diff lubes and engine oil tranny transfercase fluids out to AMSOIL
Q: 2005 Jeep Liberty?
I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty - and lately I've been having a problem with the ignition/security system. For some reason my car won't start when I put the key in, and I get a red light on the dashboard. Some people have told me that my key is "bent" and thus the ignition won't start because it triggered the security system? Others have told me differently. Can anyone shed some light on what causes this and how I can rectify it? If you need more detail, just say so.
A: One thing i can think of is the sentry key theft deterrent. if you have this key ( alot of jeeps do now), when you start the engine, the car sends out a signal to the key which the key sends a signal back(all happening in under a second). If there is something wrong with the transmitter on the key or possibly the car, the car wont start. Check out this site: it will tell you all about the key and will have picture of it to see if you have it. http://www.wjjeeps.com/sentry.htm. you key might not look the same but you should be able to tell by the thickness. good luck.
Q: What type of motor oil does a 2005 Jeep Liberty use?
